How Bubbl works

Bubbl is a free app for iOS and Android. You write a short note, or send three photos as a little film roll, pick who gets it, and it shows up on that person's Home Screen inside the Bubbl widget. Next time they unlock their phone, it's just there.

The short version: write a note with your own color, type, and emoji, or send three photos that read like a photo booth strip. Choose a friend, a community, or everyone. Bubbl puts it on their Home Screen widget, and they react to it right there. Free on iPhone and Android, with no ads.

What a Bubbl is

A Bubbl is a short note on a colored canvas. You pick three things before you send it:

  1. Color. The background tone. Soft lilac, warm coral, bright cyan, and a few more.
  2. Type. Big and playful, small and quiet, or bold and direct. Your call.
  3. Emoji. So the note reads the way you'd say it out loud.

It ends up looking like a small card you made yourself, because that's what it is. That card is what lands on your friend's Home Screen.

You can send photos too

Sometimes a moment needs a camera, not words. In Bubbl you send photos in sets of three, laid out like a strip from a photo booth. One post carries three moments instead of one, so a quick afternoon with someone reads like the afternoon, not a single frame of it. The strip lands on the Home Screen the same way notes do, and people react to it there.

How sending works

Every note starts in the composer. Write the thought, style it, then decide who it's for:

Writing a note, and choosing who receives it.

You choose per note. A message meant for one person can stay with that one person.

How it lands on the Home Screen

The recipient adds the Bubbl widget to their Home Screen once, and it takes under a minute. We have guides for iPhone and Android. After that, each note you send appears in the widget on its own. No notification to swipe away, no app to open first. Unlock the phone and the note is on the screen they see most.

The widget is built around best-friend connections. Up to 20 people can be in that circle, and their notes are the ones that show up on the Home Screen.

What happens after it lands

Whoever gets the note can react to it, so you know it arrived. There's also chat in Bubbl, so a note can turn into a longer conversation when it needs to.
